Macro Plaza: (N) One of the most beautiful places of the city of Monterrey is the Gran Plaza. This modern urban and green area covering 40 hectares from the Federal Palace up to the Sun Monument by the Mexican sculptor Rufino Tamayo is located in the north side of the Santa Catarina river.In this plaza are preserved the old monuments and colonial houses, which now contrast with the new buildings surrounding it. ## Faro de Comercio: (N) Situated in front of the cathedral of Monterrey, this lighthouse is one of the principal elements of the Gran Plaza. This simple and colossal monument is one of the tallest in Mexico (170 mts). At the top a laser equipment has been mounted. Each night a laser beam is directed and projected into the sky.
